Haaland Breaks Premier League Record, City Reclaim Top Spot

Manchester City Clinch Victory Over West Ham, Haaland Shines

Manchester City returned to the summit of the Premier League table on Saturday, thanks to a hard-fought 3-1 victory over West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium. Erling Haaland stole the headlines once again, breaking the Premier League single-season scoring record with his 27th goal of the campaign.

City dominated possession throughout the contest, but West Ham proved to be a resilient opponent. However, the hosts eventually found the breakthrough in the 33rd minute, when Ilkay Gundogan tapped in a close-range effort. Fernandinho doubled the lead just before halftime with a well-placed header.

West Ham pulled one back after the break through Said Benrahma, but City remained in control and sealed the victory in the 85th minute when Haaland netted his record-breaking goal. The Norwegian striker's tally now surpasses the previous record of 26 goals, set by Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer in the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons, respectively.

With this win, City move two points clear of Arsenal at the top of the standings. They have now won their last 16 Premier League games against West Ham, a remarkable record that highlights their dominance over the Hammers.
