Colorado Avalanche Win 2022 Stanley Cup

Avalanche Defeat Lightning in Six Games

Third Title for Colorado Franchise

The Colorado Avalanche have won the 2022 Stanley Cup, defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games. The Avalanche are now three-time Stanley Cup champions, having previously won the trophy in 1996 and 2001.

The Avalanche were the preseason favorites to win the Stanley Cup, and they lived up to expectations throughout the playoffs. They finished the regular season with a league-best 112 points, and they cruised through the first two rounds of the playoffs, sweeping the Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues.

The Avalanche faced a tougher challenge in the Western Conference Final, as they needed seven games to defeat the Edmonton Oilers. However, they showed their resilience in the Stanley Cup Final, winning the first two games at home before dropping Game 3 in Tampa Bay. Colorado won the next two games at home to clinch the series.

Nathan MacKinnon led the Avalanche in scoring during the playoffs, with 13 goals and 22 assists. Cale Makar was also a key contributor, with 8 goals and 21 assists. Darcy Kuemper was solid in goal for Colorado, posting a 2.59 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.

The Lightning were the defending Stanley Cup champions, but they were unable to repeat their success this year. They finished the regular season with 108 points, and they defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, and New York Rangers in the first three rounds of the playoffs.

The Lightning faced a tough challenge in the Stanley Cup Final, as they were outplayed by the Avalanche for much of the series. They will look to bounce back next year and win their third Stanley Cup in four years.
