Electric Vehicles on the Rise
BEVs Dominate New Car Registrations
Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) are gaining rapid traction in the automotive industry. According to the latest Power EV Index, BEVs accounted for two-thirds of new electric car registrations in 2022. This surge in popularity is attributed to factors such as government incentives, technological advancements, and increasing consumer awareness about the environmental benefits of electric vehicles.
Growth Outlook
The Power EV Index now predicts industry and segment-level EV sales share out to 2030. The forecast indicates that BEVs will continue to lead the electric vehicle market, accounting for a significant portion of new car sales in the coming years.
Electric cars as a whole have seen impressive growth in recent years. In 2023, they accounted for around 18% of all cars sold, up from 14% in 2022. This growth is expected to continue as more and more consumers opt for electric vehicles due to their lower operating costs, reduced environmental impact, and improved performance.
