Environment Canada keeping a close watch

Severe thunderstorms rolled across Southwestern Ontario on Friday, bringing heavy rain, hail, and wind gusts of up to 100 km/h.

Environment Canada issued several severe thunderstorm warnings and watches across the region, with the storms expected to continue into the evening.

Kitchener, Guelph, and Cambridge were among the hardest-hit areas, with reports of downed trees and power lines.

The storms are expected to move east into the Greater Toronto Area and parts of Eastern Ontario later in the evening.

Environment Canada is urging residents to be prepared for severe weather and to take shelter if a warning is issued.
